Clark Art Hosts Virtual Talk on 18th Century French Drawings

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Wednesday, Feb. 1, the Clark Art Institute joins with the Association of Historians of Nineteenth-Century Art to discuss the Institute's current exhibition, "Promenades on Paper: Eighteenth-Century French Drawings" from the Bibliothèque nationale de France.    Focusing on select drawings from the exhibition, curators Esther Bell, Anne Leonard, and Sarah Grandin offer a varied and lively picture of artistic practices in the years leading up to and just after the French Revolution.   The virtual talk takes place at 7 pm on Zoom.   According to a press release:   Over centuries, the Bibliothèque nationale de

Williamstown Fire Station Committee Defends Size, Cost of Project

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Two members of the Select Board on Wednesday urged the Fire District's Building Committee to use the next month to find cost savings in an estimated $25 million building project.   Committee members responded by repeating that the district is committed to delivering the town the fire station it needs for the lowest possible cost and said the "value engineering" process would continue even after a planned Feb. 28 bond authorization vote if residents approve the project.   But the Building Committee also presented data that shows the project it is planning is in line with comparable fire stations from several dozen facilities recently built

Adams Community Bank Donates to Local Nonprofits

ADAMS, Mass. — Adams Community Bank (ACB) ended 2022 with a donation of $75,000  to local food pantries, food banks, and fuel assistance programs.   ACB's Senior Vice President of Communications and Community Engagement Maureen Baran presented donations to several Berkshire County nonprofits.   Adams Community Bank began its December donation efforts by presenting BCAC's Fuel Assistance program with a $50,000 donation. This program is part of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a federally funded program to help low-income households with their energy costs. The program runs from Nov. 1 to April 30 each year and covers the cost of various

Williams Women's Basketball Tops Middlebury

Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
