Clark Art Screens 'The Boy and the Heron'

Golfers Sought for Mike Deep Memorial Tournament

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Thursday, May 1, is the deadline to register to play in the Mike Deep Memorial Tournament, scheduled for Juen 7 at Waubeeka Golf Links.   The tournament is being held to raise funds for a memorial bench at the course in Deep's honor and to benefit the Mike Deep Memorial Scholarship fund, which supports students from McCann Tech, Drury and Mount Greyloock.   The cost for a team of four is $175 per person.   The event will feature lunch at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. with a scramble format.   There will be a 50/50 raffle at the event.   To sign up, call 413-458-8355 or visit the pro shop at Waubeeka.

Trees, Tall Grass Will Delineate Williamstown Dog Park

The town plans to designate an 18-acre area, outlined in yellow, for off-leash dogs at the Spruces Park. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday saw regulations that will govern a fence-free "dog park" that the town plans to establish at the Spruces Park.   Use of the 114-acre former mobile home park on Main Street has been on the table for the Select Board for more than two years, after a failed attempt by citizens petition to amend the town's leash bylaw at the 2023 annual town meeting.   Last September, the board agreed in principle to a plan to designate a section of the park for dog owners to bring their pets off leash.   At

Williamstown has a long-standing tradition of displaying American flags on utility poles along the town green (Route 2) from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. At the last Williamstown Select Board meeting, there was a 4-1 vote to replace every fourth American Flag with a Progress Pride (rainbow) flag during the month of June.

Was there any indication in the Select Board meeting packet or the posted agenda that this potentially controversial topic would be discussed, even voted upon? The Open Meeting Law requires that the public have timely notice of anticipated topics and ample opportunity to comment. If not appropriately posted, only "emergencies" are permitted

Man Facing Charges in Williams College Restroom Surveillance

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A Weston man is facing charges related to a camera found with pictures and video in a restroom on the Williams College campus.    Maxwell Hall, 21, was charged on March 20 with 18 counts of photographing, videotaping, or electronically surveilling a partially nude or nude person.   The charges stem from an investigation prompted by a student's complaint on Jan. 16, 2025, of a camera in the second-floor public restroom at Lasell Gymnasium.    According to the District Attorney's office, the Williamstown Police Department received the report from the college's Campus Safety Service regarding suspicious activity in the gym.
