Clark Art Final First Sunday Free of the Season

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute holds its final First Sunday Free of the season on Sunday, May 7.    Offering free admission to the galleries and special exhibitions from 10 am–5 pm, the day also features a series of special activities from 1–4 pm and a pop-up display of works on paper on view from 11 am–1 pm. May's theme is "Fashion."   Explore clothing and costume drawn from the Clark's collection. Browse the galleries and design an outfit inspired by clothes and accessories worn by figures in the paintings.    Attendees can dress themselves and/or a mannequin in collection-inspired fashion and accessories

Williamstown Select Board Candidates Meet for Pre-Election Forum

Governor Names Western Mass Director and Deputy Director

Clark Art Receives Cultural Sector Recovery Grant

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute recently received a Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) grant as part of its Cultural Sector Recovery Grants for Organizations program.    The Clark received $75,000 to help maintain programs and operations. The grant program was funded from the $8.7 billion provided to the Commonwealth from the American Rescue Plan Act.   The Clark is one of seventy-two Berkshire-based organizations among the 1,218 cultural organizations that have received a combined $51,063,350 grant funding from the MCC. Williamstown Housing Trust Exploring New Ideas

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Facing the prospect of an infusion of cash at a time of low demand for its popular DeMayo Mortgage Assistance Program, the board of the Affordable Housing Trust last week brainstormed about new initiatives it could pursue in fiscal year 2024.   Chair Andrew Hogeland noted at the outset of the April 19 meeting that the trust is in line to receive a little more than $200,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds and $120,000 in Community Preservation Act funds if the former allocation is approved by next month's annual town meeting.   The trust began April with a balance of just more than $203,000.   "If all that [anticipated funding] goes
