 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A flawed design process is responsible for the $1.3 million overrun in a 2.4-mile bicycle and pedestrian path built under the auspices of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the town manager said this month. The town is on the hook for that $1.3 million, which exceeds the 10 percent contingency that MassDOT built into the budget for a multimodal trail bid at around $5.3 million. MONTPELIER, Vt. — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department and the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board will hold public hearings on deer and moose management for 2023 on March 20, 23 and 24. The hearings will include results of Vermont's 2022 deer seasons and prospects for deer hunting next fall as well as an opportunity for people to provide their observations and opinions about the current status of the deer herd. BENNINGTON, Vt. — Predicting about 150 new jobs for the area, a New York real estate developer Friday announced plans to create a "four- or five-star hotel" reusing the buildings on the former Southern Vermont College campus.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Board of Health on Monday gave a variance to the Williams College Museum of Art to allow a tattoo demonstration at the venue on April 27. The public creation of body art is planned as a program in conjunction with the museum's current exhibition, which displays works of contemporary artists of Himalayan heritage alongside traditional Tibetan Buddhist art dating back to the 18th century.
