Bennington Museum Launches $3.2M Century Campaign

BENNINGTON, Vt. — The Bennington Museum has launched a "century campaign" with the goal of making $3.2 million in structural and programming improvements as it enters its second century.    Over the next four years, the museum will raise funds to improve curbside appeal, create new community spaces, comply with modern safety and accessibility standards, and provide long-term stability so that the collections and programs will always be within reach of the community and the some 20,000 visitors it has each year.   The goal is to complete a campus-wide transformation by the end of year 2028, the museum's 100th anniversary.   "I am so excited by the

Williamstown Coping with More Erosion Along Hoosic River

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The town is looking at several potential projects to stabilize the banks of the Hoosic River in the foreseeable future.   One much discussed effort near the intersection of North Street and Syndicate Road already is making its way through the permitting process. Clark Art Concert by Jacques Schwarz-Bart

Williamstown Fire District Won't Seek Retirement Exemption for Chief

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Prudential Committee on Wednesday voted 3-1 to not seek an exemption that would allow the fire chief to continue in his role past his 65th birthday.   Fire Chief Craig Pedercini had asked the panel, which governs the district, to seek the exemption to prevent him from having to retire in March of next year.   The five-member committee referred the question to a newly created Personnel Committee, which on Wednesday recommended that the district not seek the exemption to the state-mandated retirement

County Residents Encouraged to Test Home Internet Capability

Williamstown Select Board Commits ARPA Funds to Mount Greylock School District Project

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday voted unanimously to allocate the rest of the town's American Rescue Plan Act funds toward a Mount Greylock Regional School District initiative to address bias-based incidents in the public schools.   On a vote of 4-0, with Jeffrey Johnson absent, the board agreed to contribute about $66,000 — what remains uncommitted from the town's original ARPA grant of about $2 million — as requested by the Mount Greylock School Committee.   Interim Superintendent Joseph Bergeron and School Committee Vice Chair Carolyn Greene, a Williamstown resident, attended the meeting at Town Hall to provide more details about a
