North County, Pittsfield Hold Egg Scrambles

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — A number of egg scrambles were held in the Berkshires on Saturday ahead of Easter.    The light spring ran didn't stop hundreds of children from darting across lawns and fields to search for treasure in the form of plastic eggs.    Peter A. Cook VFW Post 9144 held its annual event at the town field named in memory of Cook, Clarskburg's only Vietnam War casualty. Clark Art Institute to Air "Figaro" Broadcast

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute will present a broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera’s production of "Figaro" on Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m. in the Manton Research Center auditorium.

The broadcast is part of "The Met: Live in HD" series and will feature the full opera performance, including backstage interviews and commentary. Joana Mallwitz will conduct the ensemble cast, which includes Michael Sumuel, Olga Kulchynska, Joshua Hopkins, Federica Lombardi, and Sun-Ly Pierce.

Monday, April 21, is Patriots Day, a state holiday marking the anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord that began the American Revolution. The day has been celebrated on the third Monday in April since 1969.

Williamstown Select Board OKs LGBTQIA+ Petition, Pride Flags

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday became the second elected body in the last week to express its support for the LGBTQIA+ community.   A few days after the Mount Greylock Regional School Committee OK'd updated policies on sexual orientation and gender identity, the Select Board had a chance to weigh in on a town meeting article that seeks to affirm equal protection under the law in the town.   Article 28 on the 30-article warrant for the May 22 meeting is titled "Resolution Declaring the Town of Williamstown a Community that Supports and Upholds the Rights of Transgender and Gender-Diverse People."   The article, submitted as a citizens

Clark Art Screens 'Days of Heaven'

Clark Art Institute Offers School Vacation Week Activities

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute will host activities for children and families during the Massachusetts public school system’s April vacation week.   From Tuesday, April 22, through Thursday, April 24, landscape drawing stations will be available throughout the museum, featuring various drawing mediums. Clark Art Foraging Walks Series

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute's popular series of foraging walks returns this April.    On the fourth Tuesday of the month from April through October, naturalist and wild edibles enthusiast Arianna Alexsandra Collins of the Hoosic River Watershed Association and Offerings for Community Building guides visitors across the Clark's 140-acre campus in a one-hour talk. Poetry Event to Celebrate Earth Day and the Hoosic River Watershed

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A poetry event focused on the Hoosic River Watershed will take place on Thursday, April 24, at 4:30 PM.

Poets and individuals interested in poetry of all ages are invited to participate in this Earth Day celebration.

The event will begin at the Mohican Recreational Path – Syndicate Road Trailhead parking lot. Participants will walk along the Hoosic bike trail in Williamstown to seek poetic inspiration. Writing prompts will be available for those who wish to use them. Time will be allotted for participants to share their poems, phrases, or other creative expressions inspired by the river. The program is scheduled to last for 1.5 hours.

Clark Art Invites People With Dementia and Caregivers for Gallery Talk
