CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — FEMA encourages residents and visitors in Hurricane Lee's path to prepare now and follow the instructions of local officials. Anyone in the forecast path of the storm should monitor local weather alerts for updates and evacuate immediately if told to do so. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School Committee on Thursday looked at how to make $1.3 million in cuts that will be needed in order to bring the middle-high school track and field project in on budget. "Unfortunately, the bids came back nearly 40 percent higher than we had estimated," District Business Manager Joe Bergeron told the committee at its monthly meeting. "What that means is we needed to go back and figure out both what happened as well as how we can move forward, if at all possible." BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll Administration awarded $460,000 in grant funding to increase economic development focusing on the conservation and sustainable management of forests within Massachusetts' Woodlands Partnership of Western Massachusetts region. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The property tax bill on a median single-family home in town is slated to rise by $187 in the current fiscal year. That was one of the takeaways from Assessor Chris Lamarre's annual presentation to the Select Board at its tax classification hearing. After the recent interim revaluation, the median single-family home value (the point at which half the residences are assessed lower and half are assessed higher) is $395,100, Lamarre reported. That will yield a tax bill of $5,986, up from $5,799 in the fiscal year that ended on June 30. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage |
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.
Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
