Williamstown Affordable Housing Trust Hears Objections to Summer Street Proposal

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Neighbors concerned about a proposed subdivision off Summer Street last week raised the specter of a lawsuit against the town and/or Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity.   "If I'm not mistaken, I think this is kind of a new thing for Williamstown, an affordable housing subdivision of this size that's plunked down in the middle, or the midst of houses in a mature neighborhood," Summer Street resident Christopher Bolton told the Affordable Housing Trust board, reading from a prepared statement, last Wednesday. Clark Art Gallery Tour Celebrating Public Library

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Saturday, April 27 at 2 pm, the Clark Art Institute hosts a gallery tour exploring works of art made in 1874.    The first Impressionist exhibition in Paris took place in 1874; that same, significant year, the Williamstown Public Library was founded. Led by art historian Jock Brooks, the gallery tour is presented as part of the Williamstown Public Library's 150th anniversary celebration. The tour meets in the Clark's Museum Pavilion.   Free with gallery admission. Capacity is limited. Visitors may pick up a ticket at the Clark Center Admissions desk on a first-come, first-served basis.

Williamstown Housing Trust Commits $80K to Support Cable Mills Phase 3

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The board of the town's Affordable Housing Trust last week agreed in principle to commit $80,000 more in town funds to support the third phase of the Cable Mills housing development on Water Street.   Developer David Traggorth asked the trustees to make the contribution from its coffers to help unlock an additional $5.4 million in state funds for the planned 54-unit apartment building at the south end of the Cable Mills site.   In 2022, the annual town meeting approved a $400,000 outlay of Community Preservation Act funds to support the third and final phase of the Cable Mills development, which started with the restoration and conversion of the

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute's popular series of foraging walks returns this April.    On the fourth Tuesday of the month from April through September, naturalist and wild edibles enthusiast Arianna Alexsandra Collins guides visitors across the Clark's 140-acre campus in a one-hour talk.
