Mount Greylock Voters Re-Elect Greene, Miller to School Committee

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Voters in the Mount Greylock Regional School District Tuesday returned Carrie Greene and Steven Miller to the School Committee in the only contested local election on the ballot.   Lanesborough's and Williamstown's electorate ensured that the School Committee will have the same composition for at least another two years by choosing the two incumbents over challenger Christine Enderle in a three-way race for two seats on the seven-person committee.   Greene was the top vote-getter with 2,661 votes in the two-town district. Miller was second with 1,736. Enderle was third with 1,465.   All three Lanesborough residents on the School Committee

McCann Celebrates 20 Nursing Grads in Pinning Ceremony

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — McCann Technical School honored the achievements of 20 new Practical Nursing graduates at its annual pinning ceremony on Monday. 

 

The group received congratulations and well wishes from faculty, administrators and several other guests.

 

Superintendent James Brosnan said the new graduates share a comradery together through the shared experience in the nursing program.

SVHC Receives Donation from Lundgren Subaru and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center (SVRCC), a department of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), accepted a donation of dozens of blankets from Lundgren Subaru of Bennington and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Upstate New York/Vermont Chapter last month.    "Blankets are such warm and comforting objects," said Jennifer Coutu, nurse manager. "Patients will feel warm and comforted when they receive one of these blankets. BArT Students Receive John and Abigail Adams Scholarship

ADAMS, Mass. —The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship is a merit-based program that provides credit towards tuition for up to eight semesters of undergraduate education at a Massachusetts state college or university.

For this scholarship, merit is based on student scores on the 10th-grade Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test.

This year's recipients at Berkshire Arts & Technology (BArT) Charter Public School are Sheldon Alexander, Jacob Brown, Ivan Chen, Felee Davis, Isaac Huberdeau, Riley Jowett, Matthew Lizzo, Ranger McGinnis, Sawyer Moser, Ruby Pullaro-Clark, Ndey Touray, Matthew Weiskotten, and Giordan Zavatter.

Rollerskiers Tackle Mount Greylock

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. – Fin Bailey and Alexandra Lawson were the top finishers on Sunday at the Mount Greylock Hill Climb.   The rollerski race was conducted at Mount Greylock Reservation under the auspices of the New England Nordic Ski Association.   More than 100 athletes took on the challenge of racing to the top of the commonwealth’s highest peak.   Bailey and Lawson were the first finishers in the long course division for men and women respectively.   The long course ran for 8 miles from the visitor’s center to the top of the 3,500 foot mountain.   Bailey of Vermont’s Stratton Mountain School won the men’s race in 48 minutes, 59.4

Iceland's President To Speak at Williams College

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The President of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson will speak at Williams College on the topic "Cool Iceland: The Fascinating Challenges and Opportunities of Being a Small State" on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the '62 Center for Theatre and Dance.   The program is open to all and admission is free. During the event, the Williams College Chamber Choir will also perform a selection of Icelandic songs in the president's honor.   Visitors are expected to be fully vaccinated, and masks will be required.
