McKay's Family Farm Takes Over Farm Stand in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A new owner has taken over the former Chenail's Farm Stand at 877 Simmonds Road.

McKay's Family Farm is located in Stamford, Vt., and raises cattle, sheep, horses, goats and more. They also grow a variety of vegetables, and have expanded into the greenhouses at the shopping plaza near the town line. 

"We've been in Stanford for 16 years building our production. And we decided that we kind of do hay and produce all over the place. We have a lot of leased land that we use, and wanted to be able to expand," said owner Luke McKay

Wild Soul River Expands Hours and Offerings

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Wild Soul River recently changed its hours and added more to its menu.

Owners Rebecca Guanzon and Justin Adkins opened the herbal and metaphysical shop in 2021. The shop offers a lot of herbs, herbal teas, and one-on one-sessions for tarot reading and reiki.

"At our core, we're a small herbal business, and that's kind of the core of everything we do," Adkins said. "Rebecca is a trained herbalist, and she sees people one on one for herbal consultations. She also does reiki and tarot readings, and then we're also like a little cafe slash metaphysical shop, and all of it comes together, though, really around hers and around herbal

No Injuries In Williamstown Single Car Accident Near Railroad Tracks

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A driver escaped injury Friday afternoon after their westbound Toyota Prius veered off North Hoosac Road, over an embankment, coming to rest near the railroad tracks.   "One car, no injuries," Officer David Jennings said, noting the accident could have been worse. "That's what we like."   Jennings said the single-vehicle accident, which occurred just before 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct 3, a few hundred feet from Cole Ave., is under investigation by Williamstown Police.   He said the car went across the lanes, hitting and snapping an old railroad communication pole. Savoy Residents Get First Say Wednesday on McCann Tech Bond

Williams Students Reportedly Harassed on Main Street

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Williamstown Police and Williams College security are investigating two reports of students being harassed on Main Street over the weekend.   In a letter to the campus community on Tuesday morning, Campus Safety Services Director Jeff Palmer detailed separate incidents where students were harassed on Route 2.   In one case, "a white 4-door pickup truck towing a motorcycle trailer that shouted and made gestures of a derogatory and explicit nature and shouted racial slurs at students who were waiting at the bus stop," Palmer wrote.   Another time students reported to CSS that, "a black truck … accelerated through the crosswalk

Tribal Members to Host Powwow on Their Homeland

NEW LEBANON, N.Y. — For the first time in more than 200 years, tribal people will return to their homeland for an inaugural powwow.    The traditional Homelands PowWow will bring members of the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohicans from all over the state, from Wisconsin all the way to California, to Darrow School for the weekend of Oct. 4 and 5.    The event runs from 10 to 5 both days and tickets are $10 to $20; weekend passes are $15 to $30.
