Clark Art Airs 'X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X'

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Metropolitan Opera's broadcast production of "X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X" airs at the Clark Art Institute on Saturday, November 18 at 12:55 pm in the latest installment of the 2023–24 season of The Met: Live in HD.    The award-winning series of live, high-definition cinema simulcasts features the full live performance along with backstage interviews and commentary. Williamstown Comprehensive Plan Committee Sends Document to Planning Board

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee on Tuesday wrapped up its work and sent the completed document to the Planning Board for its approval.   But first, the panel that has spent the last two years focusing on town's next 20 years engaged in one last discussion about how the town should balance economic growth with environmental protection.   The impetus was the committee's review of seven written responses from community members answering a call for final comments on the 64-page plan.   Several of those responses, some quite lengthy, indicated a concern that the proposed plan, titled "Envisioning Williamstown 2035," did

Williams Women's Soccer Falls in NCAA Tournament

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- Hannah Adair scored in the 87th minute Sunday to give the Messiah College women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Williams in the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament.   Margaret Huelin and Ana Bozzi-Mackay each played a half in goal for Williams (10-4-5), which gave up two shots on goal.

Williams Field Hockey Falls in OT in DIII Tournament

Northern Berkshire Adult Education Conversation Class

Architect To Give WCMA's Plonsker Lecture

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Florian Idenburg, co-founder of SO-IL, the architecture firm selected to design and build WCMA's new home in Williamstown, will give the annual Plonsker Family Lecture on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. in the '62 Center for the Theatre and Arts.   The presentation will include an historical overview of the museum's evolution as a building type, touching on the drivers that have changed our thinking and how to design a museum for the future. Williams Field Hockey Advances in NCAA Tournament

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Kiki HIggins scored a pair of goals Wednesday to lead the Williams College field hockey team to a 6-0 win over Worcester State in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament.   Higgins also assisted on a goal. Molly Hellman had a goal and three assists.   Gates Tenerowicz needed to make one save in Williams' goal to earn the shutout win.   Williams (12-7) travels to Johns Hopkins to play Salisbury University on Saturday in the Round of 16.

NBSA, Saboteurs Win Fall League Titles

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Northern Berkshire Sports Academy and the Saboteurs Sunday took home the A and B Division titles in the NBSA Fall Basketball League.   Chris Brown scored the final four points of the game at the foul line to give NBSA a 71-68 win over Giardina and Bressett PC in the A Division final at Drury High School.   Brown, who went 12-for-13 at the line in the game, finished with a team-high 28 points in the win.   Scott McGuire scored 15 points, including 11 in the first half, when NBSA built a 41-37 lead.   It then opened the second half on a 12-4 run that ended in a Khalil Paul 3-pointer to push the lead to 53-41.   But Hayden Bird scored in the

Berkshire Delegation Commends Advocacy Of Constituents for Rural School Aid Program

BOSTON — State Senator Paul Mark, on behalf of the Berkshire Delegation, announced that funding for the Rural School Aid grant program has been raised to $15 million for Fiscal Year 2024, resulting in increases ranging from 30-210 percent for schools in the Berkshire, Hampden, Franklin and Hampshire District.    The program provides financial assistance to the Commonwealth's most rural school districts.   "Making sure that students throughout our region can access a high-quality education, equal to their counterparts around the state, is extremely important to me and our regional delegation," said Senator Mark.
