State Fire Marshal: Ready to Fall Back? When You Change Your Clocks, Check Your Alarms!

STOW, Mass. — With the end of daylight savings time coming on Nov. 5, Massachusetts fire officials issued a seasonal reminder to check your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms and change the batteries when you change your clocks.   "Working smoke and CO alarms are crucial home safety tools," said State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine. "As we 'fall back' this weekend, be sure you have the best protection by putting fresh alkaline batteries in alarms that use them and replacing alarms that are out of date."   Today's smoke and carbon monoxide alarms have the manufacturing date printed on the back of the device. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — After seven years, controversy about the choice of surface, dozens of meetings by several committees and several disappointments from over-budget cost estimates and bids, Mount Greylock Regional School appears to finally be getting a track and multi-sport playing field.   By a vote of 5-0, the School Committee on Thursday decided to accept the recommendation of its Field and Track Project Committee to enter negotiations with William. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
