Clark Art Receives National Endowment for the Humanities Grant

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute recently received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for $100,000 to support the implementation of a summer 2024 exhibition on French artist Guillaume Lethière.    The grant to the Clark was part of a $41.3 million package of 280 humanities projects nationwide recently announced by the NEH.   "We are extremely grateful to the NEH for its support and for the recognition of the importance of this project," said Olivier Meslay, Hardymon Director of the Clark. Williams Volleyball Stays Unbeaten, Wins League Opener

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Lauren Kauppila passed out 32 assists and served three aces Friday to lead the Williams College women's volleyball team to a three-set win over Middlebury.   Keely Campuzano led Williams with 11 kills in the 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 win.   Williams (5-0, 1-0 NESCAC) goes to Hamilton on Saturday.

FEMA Urges Public to Prepare Ahead of Hurricane Lee

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — FEMA encourages residents and visitors in Hurricane Lee's path to prepare now and follow the instructions of local officials.    Anyone in the forecast path of the storm should monitor local weather alerts for updates and evacuate immediately if told to do so.    "For the past several days, FEMA has been in close contact with our state partners as we monitor the path of Hurricane Lee," FEMA Region 1 Regional Administrator Lori Ehrlich said. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
