 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A vacant Cold Spring Road property could have new life if the Zoning Board of Appeals gives the go-ahead on Thursday night in June. Williamstown Recovery Realty LLC will be before the board seeking a special permit to operate an inpatient behavioral health-care facility at 1561 Cold Spring Road (Route 7), at the site of the former Sweet Brook Care Centers. The Woodmere, N.Y.,-based applicant is seeking a special permit to operate on the site.  BENNINGTON, Vt. — Just as the rain began to fall on Thursday, April 14, Danielle Ploof, a middle school science teacher at Pine Cobble School in Williamstown, Mass., stopped by Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) to spread some sunshine in the form of 50 handmade blankets for children using the Emergency Department. "These blankets are so soft and adorable, with child-friendly prints. Alison Case moves to adjourn Williamstown's annual town meeting at its outset on Tuesday evening. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Attendees at Tuesday's annual town meeting voted overwhelmingly to adjourn the meeting at its outset and continue on Tuesday, June 14, at 7 p.m. at Mount Greylock Regional School. As expected, a motion to adjourn was made immediately after Town Moderator Adam Filson called the meeting to order in the Williamstown Elementary School gymnasium. The motion, which needed a simple majority for passage, was approved by a vote of 149-49. A Superior Court judge in Pittsfield Tuesday denied a request for an injunction that would have postponed Tuesday’s meeting but required that all participants wear masks. The town previously had announced it would provide masks to any attendees needing one. Earlier versions of this story incorrectly identified Huff Templeton as a party to the motion seeking an injunction. With the advent of the Bird e-scooters in Pittsfield, available to anyone with a license, a few cents, and a cell phone, I hope that Berkshire Medical Center's emergency room is ready for the traumatic brain injuries coming down the road. The rentals don't include helmets and I've seen plenty of people having a blast — laughing and zipping along next to traffic — some riding double and no one wearing a helmet. They feel like a toy but they aren't toys: E-scooters are one of the most dangerous vehicles on the road with double the head injuries of cyclists — the injury rate is comparable to motorcycle riding.
