Environmental Defense Fund President Speaking at Williams Commencement

Bloomfield WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Environmental Defense Fund President Fred Krupp will be the principal speaker at Williams College's 234th commencement exercise on Sunday, June 4.    The day before, U.S. Holocaust Museum Director Sara Bloomfield will deliver the college's baccalaureate lecture. Krupp and Bloomfield will both receive honorary doctor of laws (LLD) degrees during the commencement ceremony.   Fred Krupp is the president of the Environmental Defense Fund, a global nonprofit environmental advocacy group based in New York City. Williamstown Rotary Members Support Louison House

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On April 15, Rotary members showed up at Louison House with supplies and tools, ready to get their hands dirty.     They built a sandbox, cleaned up the play area for the upcoming season, planted flowers and repaired a worn-out play set.   "Rotary members are people of action.  Our club raised funds and used matching grants from Rotary District 7890 to buy the materials needed to spruce up the playground," Susan Clarke, Rotary Club of Williamstown President said. Clark Art Screens 'Things to Come'

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Thursday, May 4 at 6 pm, the Clark Art Institute screens "Things to Come" in its auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center.    Presented in conjunction with the Clark's exhibition "Portals: The Visionary Architecture of Paul Goesch," this is the fourth event in the Clark's five-part series Visionary Architecture on Film. The film series explores themes related to Paul Goesch's life and work in early twentieth-century Germany.    According to a press release:   H.G. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
