Waubeeka Plans Glowball Tournament for Charity

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Golfers will light up the night sky and support a charity that helps underserved communities around the world at Waubeeka Golf Links this week.   Waubeeka will host a Glowball Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 7 to 10 p.m., to benefit Hope International, a Pennsylvania-based Christian charity dedicated to sharing "the hope of Christ as we provide biblically based training, savings services, and loans that restore dignity and break the cycle of poverty."   Chris Kapiloff, who purchased the golf course earlier this year, has firsthand experience with Hope International, having picked and roasted coffee beans alongside residents of Rwanda on

Clark Art: Spore Into Specimen Workshop

Williamstown Planning Board Reduces Parking Lot for Art Museum

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Williams College will be back before the Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday for a development plan review for the school's planned art museum at the Field Park rotary.   The ZBA last month held off on making any final determinations about the project, in part because it was waiting on a parking determination from the Planning Board, which was to have considered the college's parking plan on July 16 in a meeting that was canceled due to a blackout that impacted town hall.   The Planning Board rescheduled its meeting for July 24 and, after a lengthy back and forth with college officials, accepted on a vote of 3-0 a parking plan that calls for 63

Mass DEP Officials Visit Hoosic Riverbank Stabilization Site

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Conservation Commission on Thursday heard that the town is making progress on gaining approval for a riverbank stabilization plan near North Street.   Community Development Director Andrew Groff told the panel that officials from the Department of Environmental Protection visited the portion of the Hoosic River where the town has needed to do an emergency stabilization in December 2019.   Groff, who also is the town's conservation agent, said that DEP did a site visit on Tuesday as part of the appeal of a Con Comm decision on a proposed subdivision off Summer Street. Williamstown Board of Health Seeks Amicable End to Dispute

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Board of Health on Monday discussed how to communicate with a resident about an order to deal with a nuisance on their Simonds Road property.   Jean Rand stormed out of the Town Hall meeting room after a brief and contentious appearance before the board regarding her home at 1033 Simonds Road.   The property had been subject to a condemnation order from the Health Department in September 2022. Williamstown Library Committee Looks to Advance Renovations

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Milne Library's Building and Grounds Committee on Thursday recommended that the director move ahead with several repairs to the building.   On a vote of 4-0, the committee recommended that the Board of Trustees accept a bid from Bennington, Vt.'s, Vermont Roofing to fix the roof over the bathrooms in the front of the library.   And in a separate 4-0 vote, the building committee told Director Angela Zimmerman to issue a request for proposals to redo windows and doors, two major issues raised in a report the Trustees commissioned from Bennington's Centerline Architects.   In June of last year, the trustees learned that the Centerline
