 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute's Music at the Manton Concert spring series concludes with a performance by Constant Smiles and Ava Mirzadegan on Sunday, May 5 at 5 pm. The performance takes place in the Clark's auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center. According to a press release: Constant Smiles began in 2009 in leader Ben Jones' home of Martha's Vineyard. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Several dozen student protesters Wednesday began an encampment at the heart of Williams College's campus to amplify their demands that the school divest from companies with ties to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.  ADAMS, Mass. -- The Adams Lions Club’s annual golf tournament will be Saturday, May 18, at Forest Park Country Club. Teams of four will compete in a 9-hole scramble format with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Proceeds will support Lions initiatives, including scholarships for local high school graduates and community events, such as a Halloween parade for local children and lunch for senior citizens. In addition, the club assists residents who need help with vision and hearing loss-related needs and supports research to cure eye diseases and diabetes. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A planned mountain bike trail cleared a hurdle last week when the Select Board OK'd a memorandum of understanding with the New England Mountain Bike Association. NEMBA Purple Valley Chapter representative Bill MacEwen was back before the board on April 22 to ask for its signoff to allow the club to continue developing a planned 20- to 40-mile network on the west side of town and into New York State. Some of the "value engineering" changes are cosmetic, while at least one pushes off a planned expense into the future. The committee, which oversees the Fire District, also made plans to hold meetings over the next two Wednesdays to finalize its fiscal year 2025 budget request and other warrant articles for the May 28 annual district meeting. The committee accepted language designed to meet concerns raised by the Planning Board about separation of powers under the charter. The committee's original compliance language — Article 32 on the annual town meeting warrant — would have made the Select Board responsible for determining a remedy if any other town board or committee violated the charter.
