Williamstown Charter Review Committee Meets with Consultants

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Charter Review Committee on Thursday heard a largely favorable review of the current document that establishes the structure of town government.   Staff from University of Massachusetts at Boston's Collins Center for Public Management met virtually with the committee to share insights about both the Williamstown Charter, which was enacted in 1956, and some common themes in town charters around the commonwealth.   Collins Center associate Marilyn Contreas said the Williamstown charter was forward thinking for its time.   "What you have now is a pre-Home Rule charter via special act," Contreas said. Chicago Downs Williams Men's Soccer in NCAA Title Game

Adams Community Bank Receives an Outstanding CRA Rating

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Adams Community Bank (ACB) announced they received a rating of "Outstanding" from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) for the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) in their recently completed evaluation.   The bank was among four of 66 financial institutions evaluated to be rated the highest outstanding rating.    The CRA is a law established to encourage insured depository institutions to help meet the local credit needs of the communities in which they are chartered, including low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods, consistent with safe and sound operations.   Bank President, Charles O'Brien, noted the Bank did well

Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
