Letter: Look for Facts in Bias IncidentsLetter to the Editor, 08:00PM / Friday, May 17, 2024
To the Editor: The May 13, 2024, article entitled "'The Roof is Caving In': Mount Greylock School Committee Hears Details of Bias Incidents." If reported accurately, and if I interpreted the article correctly, Mr. Dravis brought to light some extremely troublesome issues. If prejudice is occurring routinely in our schools and elsewhere in town, especially in those institutions under the auspice of town governance, a clearly reasoned plan must be created and implemented. Also troubling in the article was "… the meeting also features some of the most frank commentary to date from district administrators about the shortcomings of the preK-12 district's

Letter: Trial Shows Trump's CharacterLetter to the Editor, 08:00PM / Friday, May 17, 2024
To the Editor: The trial of Donald Trump in Manhattan might seem like a matter of legal technicalities, but I think it's really important in another way. It has shown us clearly the character of Trump and the Republican party he now dominates. He demands that others show their loyalty by repeating his lies, as Michael Cohen did for years. His ego is so brittle that he has an aide who prints out favorable stories about him to keep him occupied and calm while in court. Meanwhile, a parade of Republican elected officials, keen to fluff their leader,

Mount Greylock Super Asks for Cell Phone BanBy Stephen Dravis, iBerkshires Staff 05:42AM / Friday, May 17, 2024 | | WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional Schools' superintendent last week asked the School Committee to adopt a policy banning student cell-phone use in the district's three schools. Jason McCandless last Thursday told the committee that his thinking about personal electronic devices in schools has evolved over the last year. As recently as last spring, McCandless told the committee that he did not feel a ban was warranted. Now, he believes that no good comes from students using cell phones in school and, in fact, significant harm comes from the social media accessed on the devices. In explaining the evolution of his position, 0 Comments Read More >> |
