ArtWeek Berkshires 2022 Welcomes Submissions

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire County's five Cultural Districts are partnering again to  expand ArtWeek Berkshires 2022 that will take place from Sept 15 to Sept 25.    The coalition recently posted its first call for artists. The non-juried event is free to all Berkshire County individuals, organizations, and businesses interested in showcasing creative work. Submissions from actors, cartoonists, crafters, dancers, designers, filmmakers, illustrators, mimes, multimedia artists, musicians, performance artists, poets, puppeteers, theater artists, visual artists, writers are welcome.   Representatives from the five Cultural District began meeting in February to

Williamstown Select Board Finalizes Town Manager Contract

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Select Board on Monday approved the contract for the next town manager.   After a brief executive session, the board voted 5-0 to OK the deal that Chair Andrew Hogeland negotiated with Robert Menicocci, who currently serves as the director of the Social Services Agency in Santa Clara County, Calif.   No terms of the contract were announced when the board returned to public session to vote on the deal.   Hogeland did note that Menicocci likely will not be able to begin his service in the town until July 1.   "[Interim town manager Charlie Blanchard] has graciously agreed to extend his contract on a much reduced basis

Williams Men's Lacrosse Downs Wesleyan

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Calvin Caputo scored five goals Sunday to lead the Williams College men's lacrosse team to a 17-13 win over Wesleyan.   Tim Saffold scored four goals, and Jake Haase had three goals and four assists in the win.   Matt Freitas stopped 19 shots for Williams (7-7, 5-4 NESCAC), which goes to Middlebury on Wednesday.   Women's Lacrosse CLINTON, N.Y. -- Aine Cleary scored three goals and assisted on another Sunday to lead Hamilton to a 13-12 win over Williams.   Shea van Den Broek and Isabel Arvelo each had a hat trick for Williams.   Caitlyn Joyce stopped 13 shots in the loss.   Williams (5-9, 2-7) hosts Middlebury on Wednesday.

Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.

Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
