WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Thursday, April 10, the Clark Art Institute continues its Small Town film series with a subtitled screening of Stellet Licht (2007) at 6 pm in the Manton Research Center. According to a press release: Bookended by a sunrise and a sunset, Carlos Reygadas' film unfolds gradually and beautifully.  Jeffrey Dias of the Onset Fire Department has signed a contract to become Williamstown's fire chief. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The town's next fire chief says he was "ecstatic" when he heard that he would be offered the post. Fire District Treasurer Billie Jo Sawyer walked the committee through a spending plan that it will review in April before sending to the annual district meeting in May. The FY25 operating budget of $542,901 represented a 3.5 percent increase over the prior year. The budget the committee looked at on Wednesday would raise the bottom line to $686,991. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Board of Health on Monday learned that town meeting will be asked to outlaw smoking in most multi-family housing. William Raymond of 189 Stratton Road told the board that he has submitted a citizen's petition to ask the annual town meeting to enact a bylaw that would ban smoking in apartments and condominiums except for those that are owner-occupied with up to four units. "These requirements are in effect at Highland Woods, Proprietor's Field and the Meadowvale housing complex," Raymond told the board.
