Williams Field Hockey Beats Amherst in League Playoffs

Willams Volleyball Sweeps Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Celia Adams had nine kills Friday to lead the Williams College volleyball team to a three-set win over Colby.   Marit Hoyem had seven kills and three aces in the 25-21, 25-22, 25-16 win.   Williams (12-7, 6-3 NESCAC) finishes the regular season at Bates on Saturday.

Three Candidates Vying for Two Seats on the Mount Greylock School Committee

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Voters in the Mount Greylock Regional School District will be selecting their representatives for the next term at the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8. 

Most are incumbents running unopposed but there is a three-way race for two four-year seats to represent Williamstown on the committee. 

Christine Enderle is challenging incumbents Carrie Greene and Steven Miller for the one of the two seats. 

Enderle is a kindergarten teacher in the North Adams Public Schools and has three children in the Mount Greylock district. In a statement on her Facebook Page, she said she understood how "so much lies on the shoulders of our teachers." She

Williamstown Select Board Seeks Volunteers for Diversity Committee

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board agreed Monday to start accepting applications to fill empty seats on the town's diversity committee.   With a resolution in sight for a long conversation between the board and the Diversity, Inclusion and Racial Equity Committee about the latter's purpose, Select Board members said it was time to fill two vacant spots on the DIRE Committee.   Randy Fippinger, who fills the Select Board's ex officio spot on the diversity panel, asked his colleagues at Monday's meeting whether it could fulfill a longstanding request from the current DIRE Committee members to fill out their roster.   Select Board Chair Hugh Daley said

Clark Art: Free Gallery Tour for New Parents

Provisions Williamstown Grand Opening Today

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Provisions Williamstown, a new fine wine and cheese shop at 4 Water St., is celebrating its grand opening today, Thursday, with a tasting event that begins at 4 p.m.

Letter: Save Valued Farmland in Williamstown

On a beautiful, designated "scenic road" in Williamstown, with 1,500 feet of frontage, offering spectacular views of Mount Greylock, a portion of a farm dating back to the 1800s could be converted to a large lot, single-family home development. This property is in an area designated as a distinctive landscape by the state Department of Environmental Management due to its impressive vistas and the most picturesque mountain scenery in the commonwealth.

Today, less than 7 percent of the land in Williamstown is dedicated preserved farmland. Rural sprawl, such as proposed here, is one of the biggest causes of the loss of farmland.
