Christopher Reeve in 1990 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Images Cinema will host a fundraising event, "Remembering Christopher Reeve," on Wednesday, May 14, as part of its Look Forward Capital Campaign. The event will begin with a VIP reception at 6 p.m. in the Images Lounge, featuring special guest James Naughton and community members. This will be followed by a screening of the documentary "Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story" and a conversation in the theater.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute will host a free gallery talk program, "Meet Me at the Clark," on Monday, May 12, at 1 p.m. The program is designed for individuals living with dementia and their care partners. The event will take place in the permanent collection galleries when the museum is closed to the general public. Specially trained educators will lead open-ended conversations about art. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute will host a day of activities on Sunday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., centered on themes of mothers and maternal love. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a selection of prints, drawings, and photographs depicting motherhood will be on view at the Manton Study Center for Works on Paper. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., a button-making activity will take place at the Clark Center. Participants can explore personal, family, and community values through button design. Pownal Woman Killed in Route 7 Accident| 10:38PM / Tuesday, May 06, 2025 | |
POWNAL, Vt. — A Pownal woman was was killed Tuesday morning following a collision with a school bus on Route 7. Dana Zazinski, 60, was northbound in a 2018 Toyota Rav 4 north when it collided in the southbound lane with a 2025 Ford E-350 school bus operated by Kimberly Galok, 61, of Eagle Bridge, N.Y. Zazinski was pronounced dead at the scene. Galok was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center by the Pownal Rescue Squad to be treated for minor injuries. Police said the school bus did not have any students onboard at the time of the crash. New ideas for town governance do not always come from new people. Sometimes they come from a person who has served on a board for many years. And if that person listens to understand, has an open mind, learns from past experience, uses logic and reason to form her view, and has the courage to put forth that view no matter how unpopular, that "new idea" has a breadth and depth to it that the idea of a novice lacks. Frequently, Jane [Patton] is the "1" in a "4-1" vote. She has all the foregoing qualities.

Over the past several years Williamstown has hung 43 American flags on poles lining Main Street from Memorial Day to Veterans day, about 170 days.
This year, to celebrate the diversity of our town, at a time when marginalized members of our community are under attack by the highest level of government, the Select Board opted to display progress pride flags, a symbol of diversity, on 10 of the poles in June.
Diversity is about all of us. It's about recognizing the value that each of us brings to the table. It is about acknowledging that some people are thriving while others are sidelined or worse. It is about uplifting and supporting those who have felt unwelcomed or

 St. Michael's College first-year catcher and Drury High School graduate Brooke Bishop was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week in mid-April. Bishop went .389 at the plate with a .667 slugging percentage and .450 on-base percentage in a 3-3 week for the Purple Knights to earn the honor on April 21. Last week, St. Michael's was eliminated in the NE10 tournament with a 2-0 loss to top-seed Pace, the No. 15-ranked team in Division II at the time. Needing two wins against Pace to advance in the tourney, St. Michael's won Game 1, when Bishop went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. She also had a hit in the second game.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Thursday, May 1, is the deadline to register to play in the Mike Deep Memorial Tournament, scheduled for Juen 7 at Waubeeka Golf Links. The tournament is being held to raise funds for a memorial bench at the course in Deep's honor and to benefit the Mike Deep Memorial Scholarship fund, which supports students from McCann Tech, Drury and Mount Greyloock.
