 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 pm, the Clark Art Institute screens the English-language version of "Persepolis," the adaptation of Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical novel. The presentation is the final event in the Clark's Film and Drawing series inspired by the exhibition, "Promenades on Paper: Eighteenth-Century Drawings" from the Bibliothèque nationale de France, which is currently on view through March 12. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Nomination papers for elected offices in the Town of Williamstown are available in the Town Clerk's office as of Feb. 6, 2023. Offices on the May 9 annual Town Election ballot will be two Select Board seats, each for a three-year term, two Library Trustee seats, each for a three-year term, two Planning Board seats, one for a five-year term and the other, a one-year seat to fill the remainder of a five-year term. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Community Preservation Committee on Wednesday voted to send town meeting five of the six applications for fiscal year 2024 funding. But the last substantive votes of the night were preceded by a lengthy debate among committee members about how to balance the funds sought in the largest applications against the panel's stated goal to carry over 10 percent of its available funds to FY25. Most of the committee's votes were unanimous, including one to reject an application from the town for $100,000 in CPA funds to defray an unexpected $1.3 million town liability for overruns in a $5.3 million pedestrian/bike trail project. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School Committee on Thursday decided to begin the process of sending a bond authorization vote to its member towns' annual town meetings this spring in order to finance a track and field project at the middle-high school. In a vote of 6-1, the committee voted to ask voters in Lanesborough and Williamstown to approve up to $1.8 million in borrowing toward what is currently estimated to be a $4.125 million project.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — With fewer than three weeks left until a special Fire District meeting to decide whether to build a new station on Main Street, a district committee Thursday talked publicly for the first time about the potential property tax implications. Jeffrey Thomas, the chair of the district's Community Advisory Committee, walked his members through four different bond payment scenarios at Thursday's hybrid meeting of the committee.
