Event Will Benefit Programs for Local Area Youth
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 6, 2012
Area residents will have an opportunity to lift their glasses to toast education and a great, fun-filled evening on April 21 when the Williamstown Rotary Club uncorks a gala Wine Tasting and Silent Auction.
Those attending the event, which will be hosted by and held at Sweetwood of Williamstown from 6 to 8 PM, will have an opportunity to sample 16 wines chosen from various parts of the world, indulge in exotic hors d’oeuvres and bid on some fantastic silent auction offerings contributed by club members and local groups and merchants. “This is our major fundraising effort,” explained Harry Montgomery, president of the Williamstown Rotary Club, “and we’re hoping it will allow us to increase our on-going commitment to area education and provide more academic and recreational opportunities for area students.” Montgomery said these include providing scholarships, sponsoring of a Cal Ripken Baseball Team, sending students to a youth leadership camp, hosting a Youth Exchange Student and participating in a joint holiday party for disadvantaged youth with the North Adams Rotary Club.
“I’m especially pleased that so many community members besides those involved in Rotary are involved in various ways,” Montgomery added, citing as an example “the great generosity of those who have donated items for the silent auction.”
Tickets for the Wine Tasting and Silent Auction are $25 per person. Reservations, which should be made no later than April 18, are available by calling Sweetwood of Williamstown at 413.458.8371
