Senior Momentum with Avi Dresner Highlights Sweetwood Lecture Series in September
WILLIAMSTOWN – The Sweetwood Lecture Series, a monthly event at Sweetwood of Williamstown highlighting a diverse array of interesting topics will continue Wednesday, September 21st  with personal trainer and Well Talk radio show host, Avi Dresner, who will offer a presentation entitled “Senior Momentum,” focusing on strength, balance, flexibility, and enhancing quality of life for our senior citizens.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments at 4:00 p.m. will precede the lecture at 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Sweetwood, 1611 Cold Spring Road, Williamstown. Each lecture in the series will take place on the third Wednesday of each month.
“Avi is one of the most knowledgeable and trusted voices in the Berkshires when it comes to enhancing the health and quality of life of our seniors,” said Sweetwood Executive Director John Krol. “This will undoubtedly be beneficial to anyone interested in living healthier into their golden years.”
Mr. Dresner is an independent personal trainer, workplace wellness, and fitness consultant with thriving practices in Manhattan and the Berkshires, where he lives with his wife in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University, and his Master's from the City College of New York.
He is the owner and operator of Avi Dresner Personal Training, and Well@Work, a workplace wellness provider to businesses of all sizes. His private clients have included New York Mets legend and Seinfeld personality, Keith Hernandez; 20-20 host and best-selling author, John Stossel; and actor and cultural icon, Leonard Nimoy. His corporate and community clients have included Interprint, Inc., Greylock Federal Credit Union, Legacy Bank Corp., and Berkshire South Regional Community Center.
He is certified as a Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise, and as a Health Fitness Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine, of which he is also an Alliance Member. In addition, he has been certified by the American Institute of Fitness Educators in Older Adult Fitness, and is a member of the International Association for Worksite Health Promotion.
Mr. Dresner has more than 17 years of international experience working in Health, Fitness, and Wellness as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, community recreation center manager, consultant, presenter, and journalist.
His work as a personal trainer and workplace wellness consultant has been featured in The Berkshire Eagle, Health Quarterly, The Berkshire Business News, The Berkshire Business & Community Guide, and McCall's Magazine. He has also written extensively on Health, Fitness, Wellness, and other topics for local, regional, and national publications, and currently writes a regular Workplace Wellness column for The Berkshire Business News.
In the months ahead, the Sweetwood Lecture Series will feature presentations by author literary scholar Lea Newman, PhD, author Nancy Cook Steeper, Gatekeeper to Los Alamos: Biography of Dorothy Scarritt McKibbin, Avi Dresner, personal trainer and host of Well Talk radio show, Paul Solomon, PhD, with a CEU presentation on the development of an Alzheimer’s vaccine, and chocolate-making with Joshua Needleman of Chocolate Springs.
Sweetwood’s auditorium, with full audio/visual capabilities, serves as an ideal location for lectures, musical performances and other presentations. The lecture series is just one of many public events to be held at Sweetwood, which includes a dining room and lounge for special events, multi-space for activities such as a yoga and dance classes, and a bluestone terrace offering breathtaking views of Mt. Greylock and surrounding hills.
