Viola L. Young

Viola Louise Young, 92, a resident of Meadowvale, Adams Road, died Monday at Sweetbrook Care Center.

Born in Bernardson, N.H., on March 20, 1909, daughter of Charles Martin and Bessie Fletcher Searle, she attended Williamstown schools and graduated from the former Williamstown High School in 1928.

Following graduation, Mrs. Young was employed by Gaveart Film, Williamstown National Bank and Sweetbrook Nursing Home.

She married James Henry Young on June 23, 1929. Mr. Young died May 29, 1979.

She was a member of Second Congregational Church in South Williamstown, the Promenaders Square Dance Club of Williamstown, Hairpin Turners Square Dance Club of North Adams and Williamstown Grange 366 Patrons of Husbandry.

She leaves a daughter, Judith Ann Grimes of Greenwich, N.Y.; six grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from Second Congregational Church, South Williamstown, on Friday, Sept. 14, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Penny Rich Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Congregational Church of South Williamstown or the Sweetbrook Care Center Activities Fund through the office of the GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267.
