WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Theresa L. Gerry, 74, of Arnold Street died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after fighting a courageous battle over the past four weeks.
Born in Adams on April 14, 1939, daughter of Ernest LaCasse Sr. and Mabel Herzog LaCasse.
Mrs. Gerry spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, raising her children and taking care of her parents and grandchildren. She worked briefly at the former Berkshire Mills in Adams as a shuttle hand and at the former Hunter Outdoor Products in North Adams in the sleeping bag department. When her children were grown, she worked at Adams Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co. (Aladco) in Adams until her retirement.
She loved spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren's events. She also loved reading and taking rides throughout New England.
She and her husband, Robert A. Gerry Sr., were married on June 2, 1956.
Besides her husband of 57 years, she leaves her son, Robert A. Gerry Jr. of Williamstown; her daughter, Carleen A. Kittler and her husband, Brian, of Adams; a brother, Ernest R. LaCasse Jr. of North Adams; four grandchildren, Jessica Gerry of Dalton, Amanda Gerry of Hinsdale, Hannah Kittler and Benn Kittler of Adams; her great-granddaughter, Katarina of Hinsdale, born Oct. 3, 2013, and an aunt, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Her daughter Catherine Gerry was stillborn on May 16, 1963. She also was predeceased by her siblings Lucille Felix, Clarence LaCasse and Leo LaCasse.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Gerry will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will be at a later date when her granddaughter returns from Ireland. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals.
