Eleanor G. Tower, 93

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Eleanor Gascoigne "Ele" Tower, 93, of Williamstown died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013.
Born in Andover on May 15, 1920, daughter of Roy Ashton and Anna Mae McDougall Daniels, she lived in Andover, in the house her father built, until she married her high school sweetheart, Oswald Tower, in 1942.
Mrs. Tower and her husband put down roots in Birmingham, Mich., where she immersed herself in raising four children and volunteering for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and civic activities.
She inherited her father's talent for drawing and painting. This artistic ability furthered her interests in fashion, home decorating and design, needlepoint, knitting and gardening design. Upon the couple's retiring to Williamstown in 1974, she continued her volunteering at the former Women's Exchange and at North Adams Regional Hospital.
She will be remembered for her engaging charm, warm smile and ease with strangers.
She leaves two daughters, Ellen Bayliss and her husband, Mel Krant, of Williamstown, with whom she made her home, and Judy Kajander and her husband, Tom, of Houston; a son, Charles "Chuck" Tower of Aspen, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Susan Tower of Boulder, Colo.,,Trevor Bayliss and his wife, Amanda, Jarrett Bayliss and his wife, Jennifer, and Jonah Bayliss and his wife, Austin, all of Williamstown, Evan Kajander of Billings, Mont., Chris Kajander of New York and Jackson Kajander of Houston; and six great-grandchildren, Jameson, Maisie, Everett, Charlie, William and Jovi Bayliss, all of Williamstown.
She was predeased by her former husband and her son John "Jack" Tower.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Per Mrs. Tower's request there will be no calling hours or services. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the Flynn & Dagnoli–Montagna Home for Funerals, 74 Marshall St. in North Adams.
