WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Maureen Frances Depew, 82, of 17 May St., died on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Matthew Hood, at 855 Dockbridge Way, Milton, Ga.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 3, 1931, a daughter of Francis and Adele Betit King, she attended the former St. Joseph's grammar school and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1949. She then attended the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield, graduating with the class of 1952.
Mrs. Depew was an employed as a registered nurse at North Adams Regional Hospital for 33 years in the pediatrics department and nursery. She also worked two years at the Downtown Adult Day Care Center in North Adams and was last employed at the former Willowood Nursing Home, now North Adams Commons.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, where she served as a lector. She was a former member of the American Nurses Association. She enjoyed reading, travel and cooking, and the companionship of her pets.
She was truly a devoted wife and mother.
Her husband, David George Depew, whom she married on June 25, 1955, in the former St. Francis Church in North Adams, died Dec. 12, 2006.
Besides her daughter and son-in-law, she leaves two other daughters, Valerie R. Huban and her husband, Christopher, of Orlando, Fla., and Michele M. Mank of Lakeland, Fla.; a son, Mark A. Depew and his wife, Sabine, of Germany; a brother, Thomas R. King of Cheshire, and nine grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Depew will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
