John Noel Raby, 67

February 26, 2014

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — John Noel Raby, 67, of Smith Ave. died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Born in North Adams on Dec. 25, 1946, a son of John B. and Alice McCarble Raby, he attended schools in Williamstown and graduated from the former St. Joseph High School in North Adams. He also graduated from Miss Farmers School of Culinary.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the serving with the Army.

Mr. Raby was employed at Williams College in Dining Services and later was head chef at the Rosarian Academy in Florida.

He was a member and past commander of Richard A. Ruether American Legion Post 152 and was a member of the Greylock Community Club in North Adams.

His wife, the former Cynthia Cunningham, whom he married in April 1989, died Jan. 27, 2012.

He leaves two stepsons, Corey Fortin and his wife, Heather, of North Adams and Chris Fortin of Williamstown; two sisters, Margaret J. Rewa of Gill and Denise Raby Simon of Adams; a grandson, Kyle Rolland of North Adams, and seven nieces.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Raby will take place Friday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial with military honors will take place in the spring.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for American Legion Post 152 through the funeral home.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both. I know that Neil was waiting for Johnny when he got to heaven.
We all had a great time growing up in the Frenier Development.
