Catherine E. Winn, 85

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Catherine Elizabeth Winn, 85, a longtime resident of Williamstown, died peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Williamstown Commons, surrounded by her family.

Born in North Adams on July 4, 1928, daughter of Edward and Helen Murphy Winn, she attended local schools and graduated from the former Williamstown High School.

Miss Winn was employed at Williams College for 42 years, retiring as the assistant dean of registrars.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a longtime volunteer and supporter of the Williamstown House of Local History. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and was the family photographer.

She leaves a brother, John Winn and his wife, Janet, of Williamstown, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Her sister and four brothers are deceased: Mary McMahon, Elbert "Bud" Winn, Edward Winn, Alfred Winn and Chester Winn.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Miss Winn will be celebrated Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamstown Historical Museum or to St. Patrick's Church in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
