WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Arthur J. Maino, 93, a longtime resident of Williamstown, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Williamstown on Nov. 5, 1920, a son of Mario and Alice Canepele Maino, he graduated from the former Williamstown High School with the class of 1939.
Mr. Maino was employed with the New England Lime Co. in Adams, retiring from its successor at the time, Pfizer, with 27 years of service. He had first worked at the former H.D. Moore Co. in Williamstown.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick's Church, where he was a minister of hospitality. He also collected for the Catholic Charities and was a blood donor.
His wife, the former Mabel Godfrey, whom he married Nov. 16, 1940, in St. Patrick's Church, died Jan. 17, 2005.
He leaves two daughters, Jean Taylor and her husband, Alan of, Pownal, Vt., and Linda Sweeney and her husband, Charles, of North Adams; a son, David Maino and his wife, Theresa, of Elk Grove, Calif.; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his four sisters Gelsomina "Jessie" DeMayo, Frederica Judge, Sylvia Phillips, Ida Trabold and brothers Richard Maino and Norman Maino.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Mr. Maino will be celebrated Tuesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will take place in the spring.
There are will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Patrick Food Pantry through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
