WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Margaret DeMyer, 87, of Williamstown died Thursday Sept. 4, 2014, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 5, 1927, a daughter of Joseph William and Helen Nassif Haddad, family resided in Waterbury, Conn., where she graduated from Wilby High School.
Mrs. DeMyer was employed for more than 27 years as a paraprofessional in the Williamstown School system. She worked closely with teachers and administrators in providing educational benefits to many students. She also worked part time as the cook at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown.
She was first employed by the former Gale Shoe Co. and later at the former Park Street Restaurant in Adams.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She was a longtime communicant of St. Patrick's Church and was a volunteer at the voting polls in Williamstown.
She leaves two daughters, Sharon Nemser and her husband, Charles, of Cheshire and Judith Chick and her husband, Edson, of Plymouth Vt.; four sons, Ronald DeMyer and his wife, Wendy, of Williamstown, David DeMyer of Pittsfield and Stephen DeMyer and Richard DeMyer and his wife, Cheryl, all of New Ashford; one sister, Cecilia Bolus of North Adams; two brothers, Alfred Haddad of Lenox and William Haddad of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, three beloved sisters-in-law, Julia Haddad, Joan Haddad and Beverly Haddad, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers, Sally Bock, Helen Shaker, Mae Shaker, James Haddad, Michael Haddad Sr. and Edward Haddad.
FUNERAL NOTICE — At Mrs. Haddad's request, a private Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the St. Patrick's Church Food Pantry through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
