Madeleine F. Boyer, 90

March 10, 2015

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Madeleine Florence "Maddy" Boyer, 90, died on March 10, 2015, at the Williamstown Commons, where she was cared for lovingly.

Born in Williamstown on Nov. 27, 1924, Thanksgiving Day, to Hector and Cecelia Reopell Boyer, she was the last survivor of their six children. She was educated in the Williamstown Public Schools during the Great Depression.

Miss Boyer was employed by the former Gaevert Co., the former Sprague Electric in North Adams and, lastly, as a secretary at the former General Cable Co. until it ceased operations.

She was a longtime communicant of the Parish of Sts. Patrick & Raphael, where she helped with the Fall Festival at the candy table and her penuche was very sought after. She was often found at morning Mass.

She loved auctions and collected tea cups, hot chocolate, pots and fine china. She also had an extensive doll collection that resided with her in her charming apartment in the family homestead.

She was a beloved part of her family circle and she lovingly nurtured her many nieces and nephews over the years. An expert in violet and pussywillow picking, and baking the "best" chocolate chip cookies ever, Miss Boyer will be sadly missed.

She leaves nieces and nephews Francis Boyer, Rosalie Boyer Richard, Claire Boyer Kristensen, John Mazza, Carole Mazza Kalisz, Jean Mazza Kochman, Judith Mazza Mellyn, Linda Young King, Elizabeth Young Chesbro, Ellen McGowan and Maureen McGowan Roosa, and Paul, David, Robert and Kale Boyer.

She is also survived by her dear friend and sister-in-law, Eileen Boyer, and many cousins including Larrie Ann Noyes, her friend and neighbor.

She was predeceased by her siblings Doris Mazza, Bernard Boyer, Donald Boyer, Gertrude McGowan and Blanche Young, and nephew and neices Nick Kristensen, Kathleen McGowan Raymond and Joan Boyer Braman.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Miss Boyer will be celebrated Monday, March 16, at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

A calling hour will be held at the church preceding the service from 10 to 11. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Patrick's Food Pantry, the Take and Eat Meals Ministry or to the Williamstown Commons Activity Fund through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
