Marie E. Scarbo, 96

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Marie Elizabeth Scarbo, 96, of 924 Henderson Road died Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Williamstown Commons.

Born in North Adams on Aug. 23, 1918, daughter of Eugene Toussaint and Cyrilla Rose Fountain Chaperon, she attended local schools.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Scarbo had worked at the former Sprague Electric and former Homestead (Dargie's) Rest Home, both in North Adams, and at Williams College over the years.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a communicant of the Parish of Sts. Patrick and Raphael and a member of Le Cercle Francais and a former member of the Eagles. She enjoyed needlepoint.

Her husband, Harry Earl Scarbo, whom she married on July 2, 1938, died on June 20, 1987.

She leaves two daughters, Paula Dominy and her husband, James, of LaMarque, Texas, and Judith Turgeon and her husband, James, of Williamstown, with whom she made her home; two sons, Eugene Scarbo and his wife, Lee, of Phluglerville, Texas, and David Scarbo and his wife, Renie, of Goodrich, Texas; her sister, Cyrilla "Sis" Frantauzzi and her husband, Jack, of Conyers, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

An infant son died at birth on Aug. 9, 1959, and her sister Shirley Smith died in 2011.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Scarbo will be celebrated Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St.

Memorial donations may be made to Berkshire VNA & Hospice in care of the funeral home.
