WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Janet Lillian "Jay" Taylor, 97, of Williamstown, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt.
Born in North Adams on Nov. 10, 1917, daughter of Patrick J. and Frances Bailey Dinn, she graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in North Adams with the class of 1935.
Mrs. Taylor was employed by the former J.J. Newberry Store on Main Street in North Adams for 40 years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of the Parish of Sts. Patrick & Raphael. She also was a docent at Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute for many years. She enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of the Taconic Golf Club. She also loved to travel and travelled throughout the world.
Her husband, Hugh A. Taylor Jr., whom she married on Jan. 15, 1946, died on Oct. 30, 1979.
She leaves her niece and nephew, Mary Halloran of Plymouth, N.H., and Patrick E. Rondeau of Clarksburg; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret R. Rondeau.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Taylor will be celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
