Gloria Jean Piner, 87

November 21, 2015

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Gloria Jean Piner, 87, of Williamstown, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Williamstown Commons, two days before her 42nd wedding anniversary.

Born in Montgomery, Ala., on July 14, 1928, daughter of Fred and Willie Belle Johnson Wynn, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She attended Alabama State College in Montgomery and Berkshire Community College.

Mrs. Piner was last employed by BFAIR. She also worked at the Center for Humanistic Change and as an aide at the former North Adams Regional Hospital.

She was long involved in volunteer work as a Red Cross nurse at North Adams Regional Hospital; assisted in the Williamstown Pee Wee football program; was president of Western Mass Legal Services and Northern Berkshire Community Action. She also was a longtime member and treasurer of the Democratic Town Committee and volunteered at Williamstown Elementary School.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She leaves her husband, Dan Willie Piner, whom she married on Nov. 23, 1973; three sons, Ronald James Kelly of Williamstown, Robert Allen Kelly of North Adams and Richard Jerome Kelly of Reno, Nev.; two daughters, Elona Jean Kelly of Reno and Jacalyn Kelly Harris of Tiverton, R.I.; one sister, Naomi Judkins of Montgomery; seven grandchildren, Amy Johnson, Michael Kelly, Ronald Kelly, Shyann Waller, Tinesha Bessette, Carly Kelly and Jarrett Kelly; several great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Yvonne Lynn Kelly.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Piner will be Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams, Memorial donations may be made to BFAIR in care of the funeral home.
