Beverly Canales, 91

NEW ASHFORD, Mass. — Beverly Canales, 91, of New Ashford died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Williamstown Commons. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 9, 1924, daughter of Forrest T. and Viola Kenyon Nichols, she attended South Williamstown schools and graduated from the former Williamstown High School. She also attended Cazenovia College and graduated from North Adams State College. Mrs. Canales was employed as a teacher at the Greylock School in North Adams and later in Lanesborough. In 1969, she and her late husband established Le Country Restaurant in Williamstown, and she assisted in its operation until her retirement when the restaurant closed in 1996. She was a member of Second Congregational Church in South Williamstown. Her husband, Raymond D. Canales, whom she married in July 23, 1949, died on April 2, 2005. She leaves a daughter, Lynn-Ann Canales of Pownal, Vt.; a son, Gregory Diego Canales and his wife, Debra, of Hancock, and nieces and nephews. Her sister, Barbara Cook, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Canales will be Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Second Congregational Church, 81 Hancock Road, Williamstown. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Second Congregational Church or to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
