WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Mary Manning Meade, 96, formerly of Williamstown died on Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Arbor’s in Greenfield, Mass.
She was born on December 23, 1920, a daughter to the late Dennis F. and Elizabeth (Manning) Meade. She attended schools in Williamstown, graduating Williamstown High School with the class of 1939. She then went on to North Adams State Teacher’s College and graduated in 1943 with her teaching degree. She spent her career teaching in the public school system.
Miss Meade was a member of the Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts and while living in Greenfield, a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was the last of her immediate family being predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth.
Miss Meade is survived by many devoted caregivers.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary Manning Meade will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 11a.m. in the Sts. Patrick and Raphael Church in Williamstown. Calling hours will be held on Monday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main Street, North Adams, Mass.
Burial will follow in Westlawn cemetery, Williamstown. A luncheon to celebrate Mary’s long life will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Water Street Grill at 123 Water Street in Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the children’s charity of your choice to honor Mary’s many years of teaching.
