Doris A. Belanger

Doris Connors Belanger, 91, of 56 May St. died Wednesday evening at home.

Born in North Pownal, Vt., on Oct. 15, 1910, daughter of Daniel G. and Pearl Frances Gurney Pettibone, her family moved to Williamstown and she attended the former Williamstown Grammar School. She then moved to Cheshire and attended the former Adams High School.

Mrs. Belanger was employed the former J.C. Penney department store on Main Street in North Adams, retiring in 1985. Prior to that, she was employed by former George A. Bowe Fuel Co. in Adams for more than 13 years. She also was employed by GE in Pittsfield for two years and by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for a short time.

While in North Adams, she was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of its Rosary Society. While in Williamstown, she was a communicant of St. Patrick's and St. Raphael's Parish. She enjoyed sewing and reading.

Her first husband, William F. Connors, whom she married Sept. 2, 1930, died July 5, 1965.

Her husband, Valmore A. Belanger, whom she married Sept. 24, 1982, died March 5, 1994.

She leaves a daughter, Mary Anne Belouin of Williamstown, with whom she made her home; three sons, William F. Connors of West Lafayette, Ind., Daniel P. Connors of North Adams, and Brian J. Connors of Camarillo, Calif.; a sister, Marion Sondrini of Pittsfield; two brothers, Loren D. Pettibone of Southboro and Floyd E. Pettibone of North Adams; 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Gordon E. Pettibone and Herman E. Pettibone.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Doris A. Pettibone Connors Belanger will be held Monday at 11 in St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown, with the Rev. William F. Cyr, pastor of St. Patrick's and St. Raphael's Parish, as the celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, will be Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Green Meadows Community Services or to the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
