WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Roger Louis Pedercini, 81, of Williamstown, Mass., died Friday, June 8, 2018, at Williamstown Commons.
He was born in North Adams, Mass., on November 2, 1936, son of Owen and Nettie (LaForest) Pedercini. He attended schools in North Adams, including St. Joseph Parochial High School, where he played basketball and was a standout member of the varsity basketball team.
As a young man he became a welder at Lipton Steel Metal Products in Pittsfield. Mr. Pedercini was later employed at Cornish Wire and General Cable Fiber Optic Division as the plant maintenance supervisor, were he was recognized for his ingenuity and his engineering ability to resolve almost any problem. This resulted in his traveling abroad to assist in the establishment of new factories. He was last employed as security dispatcher at Williams College.
He was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Reserves. Roger was an avid Boston Sports fan, his favorite being the Celtics.
Survivors include his children, Debora Niles of Richmond, Va., Craig Pedercini and his wife Karen of Williamstown, Lisa Dubendorf and her husband Donald of Williamstown and Keith Pedercini and his wife Jeanne of Pownal, Vt.; his longtime partner, Hilda Fitzpatrick of Pittsfield; grandchildren Nicole Pedercini, Caleb Pedercini, Jonathan Wilcox and Amada Bates; a brother, Ronald Pedercini of Pennsylvania; and his beloved cat, Magic.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred St. John and Dorothy Mason.
Funeral notice: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Roger Pedercini will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main Street, North Adams, Mass. Burial will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, June 11, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
