James W. Haley, 74

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — James William Haley, 74, of 118 Church St., Proprietors Fields, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in North Adams on April 15, 1927, son of George and Mary "May" Haydock Haley, he was a lifelong resident of Williamstown and attended schools there.
Mr. Haley was employed as a carpenter for the Albert Cummings Jr. Contracting Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, walking and farming.
He leaves his wife, the former Doris Dickinson, whom he married Aug. 26, 1950; a son, Edward Haley of Pownal, Vt.; three brothers, Charles B. Haley, Richard Haley and Robert Haley, all of Williamstown; a sister, Marion Sweet of Williamstown, and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, John Haley, who died Feb. 12, 1972, a brother, George Haley, and a sister, Helen Sweet.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services will take place Friday morning at 11 a.m. at Second Congregational Church of South Williamstown, with the Rev. Penny Rich Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Williamstown.
Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for Sweet Brook Care Centers through the funeral home.
