Andrew James Hyde, 49
March 19, 2022
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Andrew James (Drew) Hyde, 49, died on March 19, 2022, while backcountry skiing outside of Steamboat Springs, Colo., where he lived since graduating from Denison University in 1995.
Drew was born Aug. 19, 1972. His motto was "live close to your dreams," and he made the most of his time living in the West. He was an avid backpacker, mountain biker, river rafter and backcountry skier. His love of the outdoors was fostered by his early life in Williamstown, annual canoeing adventures planned by his father, and his time at the Holderness School, in New Hampshire.
He is grieved by his partner Julie Grady and her daughters, his parents, Thomas and Susan Hyde, of Williamstown, his brothers Peter and Matthew Hyde and their families and by a wide circle of friends and fellow travelers across Colorado

Dear Dr. & Mrs. Hyde, Peter, and Matt, I was so saddened and completely shocked to hear about Drew and can't imagine any words can help lessen the loss. I'm so very sorry. I remember Drew as exuberant, confident, talented, and always with a huge, friendly smile. When I heard the news, the image of him smiling and waving as we said hello in passing on the quad a Denison came immediately to mind. His presence was large and he will be missed by many. May you find strength and peaceful moments through this really difficult time. With heartfelt sympathy,

So sad to hear this news today. I haven’t seen Drew in many a year, not since I left Colorado in the late ‘90s, but memories I have of him from college came flooding back after I heard the news as if I saw him yesterday. He was a great dude with a 10,000-megawatt smile. As a matter of fact, I don't have many memories of him not smiling. That’s what I’ll always remember. My deepest heartfelt condolences to all that held him dear. Sincerely, Winston Rigsby, Denison'94 | from: Winston Rigsby | on: 03-21-2022 |
