Lorraine "Lorna" McGuinness passed away peacefully on October 20, 2022 at the age of 87 surrounded by family after what she described as a “lifetime of questioning, self-discovery and teaching”.
was born on January 21, 1935 to Lorraine and Thomas Waters in Newark N.J. and grew up close to her older sister Patricia in Newark, NJ. was married to her first husband Michael J. Malanga who predeceased her and she lived in many places across the U.S. but spent most of her life in the New England states of Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
Lorna returned to school later in life and was proud to have earned her BA from Southern Vermont College after an associate’s degree from Berkshire Community College.
After raising her family she went on to do social work with family services including early intervention (EI) with young children in the North Adams, MA. Lorna also started to study and eventually teach yoga and message therapy at Kripalu Foundation in Pittsfield, MA.
Even in retirement at her home in New London, N.H. she continued to offer massage and aroma therapy and touched the lives of many people.
Lorna is survived by her six children whom she truly loved, Michael, Frank, Jim, Patty, Lorrie and Tom Malanga along with 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone.
