WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Peter Giannaris, 91, of Williamstown, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26th, 2022 in his home. He was born on January 22nd, 1931 in Sparta, Greece. Peter came to America by ship in 1951. He opened a “Pizza House” in Pittsfield and Great Barrington in 1966 and 1967. He was a man of faith and went to church every week.
Peter is survived by his wife Mary, his three children Stella, Eleni, and Dean (Kostas), his brothers George and Zacharias, his twin sister Eleni, his 9 grandchildren Petros, Melina, Mariza, Marios, Athina, Peter, Eric, Nick, and Katie, his son in-law Dimitri and his daughter in-law Nina. Peter is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Amongst many things, Peter loved to play backgammon, read the newspaper every day, and read history books. After having a glass of wine or two, he loved to sing. His smile and generous heart drew many people in. While he will be sorely missed, our beautiful memories of him will always make us smile.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A calling hour for Peter Giannaris will be held at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, 73 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA on Friday December 30, 2022 from 11:00 AM to12:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service conducted by Father John Maheras at noon. Burial will be private.
