WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Richard James Weld, 89, of Williamstown died on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Williamstown Commons.
He was born on June 1, 1933, in North Adams, a son of the late Delia Gagnon and Chauncey Weld.
Richard attended Drury High School and graduated with the class of 1951. He enlisted in the Air Force and served his country during the Korean War era.
He was employed as a firefighter by the North Adams Fire Department, retiring in 1989 after 30 years of loyal service. He was a member of the North Adams Elks, American Legion, and State Firearms Association.
Survivors include his former wife, Claire M. Perreault of Naples, Fla., two nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, William Weld and John Weld, and by the late Carolyn Beverly.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Richard James Weld will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Sherman Burbank Chapel in Williamstown. Burial with full military honors and fire department honors will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.
