Robert Stanley Ellsworth, 88 of Williamstown died on Saturday November 4, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
He was born in Williamstown, MA on August 1, 1935, a son of the late Roy E. and Hazel (Lowry) Ellsworth, Sr. He was a graduate of Williamstown High School where he was a three-sport athlete, playing baseball, football and served as the captain of the basketball team.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S Army during the Korean War. He was a long-time member of the American Legion, Post 152 in Williamstown.
Robert married Elaine Anne (Nassif) on July 2, 1960. Elaine predeceased him on April 15, 2006. Robert was employed for over 47 years at General Cable Co. He also worked at J.T. Bus Line and Connor’s Brother Moving Company.
Robert loved watching sports and especially enjoyed a good discussion about them. He was a lifelong Yankee fan; but would also root for whatever team was beating the Red Sox. Known to his longtime friends, as L-Z, he enjoyed few things more than a donut and a cup of coffee, scratch tickets, ragging on his grandkids for being Red Sox and Patriots fans, and showing off pictures of his great-granddaughter. He was loved and adored by his family and dear friends, and was always ready with a helping hand and a good joke.
He is survived by his daughters Lori A. Carter of Middleboro and Nancy Ellsworth of Adams. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Seth Carter, Nathan Carter, Victoria Carter and her fiancé Jarell Samuel, Jillian Green and her spouse Michael, Megan Adams and Morgan Adams, as well as his two great-grandchildren Jake and Elle and nieces and nephews. was predeceased by his five sisters; Elizabeth Patten, Shirley Ellsworth, Arlene Rondeau, Joyce Ellsworth and Helen Bailey and three brothers; Ronald Ellsworth, Edward Ellsworth and Roy Ellsworth, Jr.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Robert Stanley Ellsworth will be on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home - West Chapel, 521 West Main Street, North Adams. A private graveside service will take place at the Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown in the Veterans Section with Military Honors.
