WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass- Kenneth E. Cunniff, (Ken/Kenny), a longtime area resident, passed away peacefully at Berkshire Medical Center on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 following a long illness. He was 82.
Born in Malden, MA on February 6, 1942, Ken was the only son of the late Edward J. and Marie V. (MacIntyre) Cunniff. Ken embarked early in life in a successful lifelong career in toy retailing, ranging from store management, buying, advertising and sales promotion, working for major retailers ranging from the Zayre corporation, as a national toy buyer, to Kay-Bee Toy Stores, where he served as Vice President of Advertising and Sales Promotions for this 1200+ store subsidiary of the Melville Corporation, of which he was a pro-active member of the Executive Committee reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer.
Ken was the proud father of four sons, Stephen of Winthrop, MA, John of Watertown, MA, Michael of Incline Village, NV and Brian of Jericho, VT, two step-children, Leslie Cuff-Washburn of Boston, MA and Robert Cuff of Malden, MA, plus several grandchildren, many loving relatives, and dear friends.
In addition to his successful career in toy retailing, Ken also served on the Board of Directors and was a past President for the Pediatric Development Center in Pittsfield, throughout the 1990’s. In his post-retirement years, Ken continued to serve as a resident manager for Proprietors Fields, a subsidized senior housing complex in Williamstown, MA. Ken’s love for the arts, included the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA where he also served as a security supervisor for several years. Ken also enjoyed classical music and opera and was fond of his many visits to Tanglewood for the many spectacular performances by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held for Ken at 11:00 am on Thursday March 21, 2024 at Saints Patrick and Raphael Parish in Williamstown, MA followed by Internment at Forestdale Cemetery in Malden, MA on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 am. Arrangements by Flynn & Dagnoli. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend services.
