WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Carol Lee Lindley (Myers), 84, of Williamstown, MA, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 16, 1940, in North Adams, MA, to Richard and Grace (Paulson) Myers, Carol was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose warmth, creativity, and love of family and animals touched the lives of all who knew her.
Carol graduated from Drury High School in 1958, where she was an active member of the school band, playing various brass instruments, and participated in the choir at North Adams Baptist Church. In 1960, she graduated from the Mary Fletcher School of X-ray, launching a fulfilling career in healthcare. She worked as an X-ray technician and also taught X-ray at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she made a lasting impact on both her patients and colleagues.
On September 24, 1960, Carol married Frederick Lindley, and together they raised two children, Peter Lindley and Rebecca Williams (Lindley). Carol cherished the time spent with her family and enjoyed many hobbies, including horseback riding, snowmobiling, and visits to the family hunting cabin.
One of Carol's greatest joys in life was being 'Grammie.' In her later years, she found immense happiness in her role as a grandmother. She created a home that became a summer haven for her grandchildren, teaching them how to ride horses and creating treasured keepsakes, such as blankets and dollhouses. She was deeply involved in their lives and loved spending time with them. Her passion for animals, especially her many beloved pets, was evident throughout her life. The only exception was squirrels and snakes, which she never quite warmed to.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edwin Ball, her husband Frederick, and her son Peter. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Williams; daughter-in-law, Dara Lindley; and her sister, Jean Neal. Carol’s grandchildren include Justin Williams, Amanda Galster (and her husband Christopher), and Jennifer Lindley. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Thaddeus Galster, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter - 1779 Vermont Rte 7a, Arlington, VT 05250. Carol and her family adopted many animals from this shelter over the years.
